HEY THERE!

Hi, my name is Cristina Martínez, I am on the fourth grade of Primary Education and this is my new blog about the Didactic of Measure. Previously, I wrote one about Geometry which was kind of fun to do and this year I will be posting new entries related to Measure. I have always been interested in this topic because almost everything in this world is quantifiable and measurable and that is quite cool. But, not all things follow the same pattern, there are way to many different ways to measure. Do you want to know them? KEEP READING MY FRIEND!:)Now, let´s check if you know a little bit of history...

Image result for HISTORY OF MEASUREMENTOne of the first concepts developed by human was the number, because he had the need to be able to express numerically everything that was around him. Then human began to measure by a simple counting of objects. Later, and due to his own needs for development, he enunciated the measurement concept, making the first measurements from very rudimentary units. The first measurements made were related to mass, length and time, and later those of volume and angle as a necessity due to the first constructions made by man. Thus, for example, the first measurements of length used the foot, the span, the arm, etc., which constituted, at the same time, the first measurement patterns (natural patterns), which were easily transportable and presented a relative uniformity.

In addition, masses were compared according to muscle sensitivity or distances were measured by relating them to time, from what one could walk on a day and other measurements of the type. All these units of measurement were imperfect, since they varied from individual to individual and from one place to another, which began to create difficulties when establishing the first commercial relationships among men. However, these first steps led to the origin of Mathematics, and of Metrology or measurement science. The latter is derived from the first and other pure sciences. As time went by, the very development of trade, industry and science, were forcing a gradual development of the measurements that are so important today in the relations between men, since they are part of our daily life , of production, distribution, research and so on."Measurement is the way to determine the size or the extent of something. It's the way to describe an object. "Measurement is the action and the effect of measuring. This verb, originating in the Latin term metīri, refers to comparing a quantity with its respective unit, in order to find out how many times the second is contained in the first. In other words, a measurement is the determination of the ratio between the dimension or event of an object and a given unit of measurement. To enable measurement, the dimension of the object and the unit must be of the same magnitude.
